Shopping Cart Software
Mercantec SoftCartTM 3.0 shopping cart software

Installation, Configuration, and Advertising
Install shopping cart software on client's Web server and configure shipping, tax, etc. to client's specifications. Customize flow of shopping system to customer specifications. Set up customer receipt module. We also advertise the Web site to 15 or more of the most important Web search engines and directories, such as Yahoo, AltaVista, Lycos, WebCrawler, HotBot, Excite, and others. Does not include search engine set-up.

Web Pages
Regular Web Pages
Requires a minimum of two Web pages: "shophome" page and one other, such as "About the Company". The best Web pages are 3 to 6 "screens" maximum, but may include up to 1,200 words for this price. Photos and client-supplied graphics are extra. Pages include system graphics: masthead, top-of-page graphic, lines, bullets, background, and image map at bottom of each page linking to various sections of the Web store.

Feedback Form (optional)
Allows structured e-mail feedback by use of an HTML form on its own Web page. You do not need this for ordering, since this is supplied by the shopping cart system.

Products (database set-up)
If you have your products already entered in a database or spreadsheet in good form, you'll see that this can be very cost effective. If you don't have a database already set up, we can do that for you so you'll be able to update your store in the future.
Convert existing database (tab- or comma-delimited, or ODBC compatible) into suitable format for SoftCartTM. Since this may vary a great deal from one business to another we can't quote an exact price. One business will have their data in excellent order, another's will be sloppy and need lots of work. We bill according to our hourly rate. We can supply you with the database along with entry/update forms, report forms, etc. for Microsoft Access® if you desire, which will allow you to do future updates. Hourly rate
Design Page GeneratorTM template and generate set of product pages. You may have several templates if you like, such as one for every product class. These Web pages will be found using the site search engine rather than by links from the home page. $150 per template

Set up third-party on-line database (such as Access®, Sybase®, Oracle®, FoxPro®, SQL, etc.) to operate SoftCart instead of its native *.pdb database. This extremely powerful option allows you to update SoftCartTM directly from a desktop database. (Optional) Hourly rate

Hand-Designed Product Pages
You may prefer several related products arranged on a Web page rather than single-product Web pages. In this case we charge on the basis of the approximate number of words about each product. While these pages are more difficult for the novice to update, they can be a very attractive way to display your products.
Product Page. A page on which to display products. $25.00 ea
Subproduct. Name, SKU, Price only. Single line for each product. No description or photo. $6 ea
Subproduct with options (such as color, size, etc.) $8 ea
Basic Description. Name, SKU, Price, up to 50 word description $8 ea

Photos
Photos of products are very important to induce the shopper to actually purchase the product. Unless you specify otherwise, we size them to about 2" x 2.5" each so they don't take too long to download. Prices include sizing, applying a thin 1-pixel black border. Specialized cropping, filling, etc. is billed on an hourly basis. Note that photos for database generated pages are slightly less than for custom designed pages, since less handling is involved.

Secure Order Retrieval System (required)
Retrieve orders via PGPTM encrypted e-mail. Includes one copy of desktop software and installation on server. Some servers require installation of a separate copy. $175
Retrieve orders with secure Web browser from password-protected directory. Includes license to software which allows viewing and deletion of all orders in the order directory. $175
Integrated Credit Card Authorization and Accounting Software Input
Credit Card Authorization set-up (optional). SoftCartTM includes an add-on module for ICVerify ($299). CyberCash capability comes with SoftCart 3.0. Hourly rate plus expenses (if any)
Accounting Software Integration (optional). SoftCartTM ships a free module which puts order into a formatted transaction log (*.iff) which can be imported directly into Intuit's QuickBooks accounting package. Setting up custom templates for other accounting software will take more time. Hourly rate plus expenses (if any)
Digital Certificate processing (optional). Some servers allow you to use their Digital Certificate. However, when a separate one is needed, normally the storeowner works with Versign and the Web server to obtain a Digital Certificate for the SSL Secure server.
